This manual describes the access procedure to the Citrix EQP environment via Citrix Workspace App from Windows systems that are not operated as Managed Clients by the Central IT or the organizational units connected to it.
The access is set up in four steps:
The Citrix Workspace App communicates encrypted with the Citrix EQP environment. To make this possible, the root certificate of our Windows environment must be present on the workstations. This root certificate is automatically distributed on devices of our Windows domain and can be installed manually on systems that do not belong to our Windows domain.
Note: If you do not want to install the root certificate manually, you will find an installation file under Public Key Infrastructure that will take care of this process for you. Please note that you cannot fingerprint verify the certificate before installing it. If you are using this installation file, you can continue directly with 2. Download and install the Citrix Workspace App after installing it.
The root certificate of our Windows environment can be downloaded under Public Key Infrastructure.
Double-click on the downloaded and unzipped certificate and trust it by clicking Open.
In the dialog that appears, click on Install Certificate.
In the installation wizard, click Next.
Note: In order for the certificate to be installed for all users, Local Machine must be selected as the storage location.
To set the certificate storage, select Place all certificates in the following store and click Browse.
Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click OK.
Click on Next.
Click on Finish.
Click OK to complete the import process.
The software required to access the Citrix EQP environment is called Citrix Workspace App. It can be downloaded free of charge from the corresponding website.
Note: If a Citrix Receiver or a Citrix Workspace App has already been installed on the workstation, it should be uninstalled first.
Download the Citrix Workspace app that fits your system in your preferred browser fromhttps://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/windows/workspace-app-for-windows-latest.html
Note: Please note the operating system compatibility and documentation listed on the download page.
Depending on the browser and its settings, you can either start Citrix Workspace App directly or download and run it.
Start the downloaded EXE file as administrator and click Start in the wizard that appears.
Place a check mark next to I accept the license agreement and click Next.
Click on Finish.
Restart the computer if necessary.
When using the Citrix Workspace app for the first time, it must be configured to access the Citrix EQP environment. The settings will be saved and are then valid for all further uses. Of course the saved settings can be adjusted at a later time.
Note: If you want to access the Citrix EQP environment from devices outside the UZH network, VPN must be used.
After the restart, the Citrix Workspace App is started automatically.
In the wizard that appears, enter the server address idcitrix.d.uzh.ch and click Add.
The installed and configured Citrix Workspace App will now start directly or can be started via the Start menu, whereby a new login may be necessary. Afterwards the Workspace window appears.
Clicking on the plus sign on the left opens the corresponding menu, which displays all Citrix desktops that the logged-in user is authorized to use.
Citrix remembers the selected applications and will present them directly there in the future, regardless of which device you are logged on to.
The desktops subscribed to in this way are also anchored in the start menu and can be started directly from there in future.
Note: If the access configuration does not work, it sometimes helps to uninstall the Citrix Workspace App and afterwards:
